Dr. Crow is a licensed clinical psychologist whose private practice office is located in Fort Worth, Texas. She holds the additional designation of Health Service Provider in Psychology. She is a diplomate with the American Board of Psychological Specialties in child psychology and is Board Certified with the American College of Advanced Practice Psychology. She is also a Board Certified Professional Counselor, and a Diplomate of the American Psychotherapy Association.
Dr. Crow was a tenured full professor of Education at the University of Texas at Arlington where she taught for many years. She directed UTA's Counseling Program and taught courses in child and adolescent psychology, developmental psychology, advanced instructional strategies, and gifted and talented studies. She was previously named outstanding Teacher at UTA and a Piper Professor of Texas.
Her community involvement includes serving as former President of the Tarrant County Dispute Resolution Services, Vice President of the Mental Health Association of Tarrant County, and Leadership Fort Worth.
She is the author of numerous publications including academic books, book chapters, and journal articles, video productions, newspaper columns, and even poetry.
While at UTA, she has served as Director of UTA's Faculty Development Resource Center, which was the first center in Texas and one of the first in the country devoted to improving instruction at the university level. While heading that center she served as International president of the association composed of leaders of faculty and instructional development centers and colleges and universities. She has also served as Interim Dean of the College of Education.
In 2009, Dr. Crow was named an inaugural winner of the University of Texas System Regents' Outstanding Teacher Award. In 2013 she was named an inaugural member of the UT System Academy of Distinguished Teachers, one of only 12 professors in the UT System and the only professional educator.
December 2017, Mary Lynn Crow, PhD, was presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who.
Prior to coming to UTA, Dr. Crow was a teacher and guidance counselor in the Texas public schools and also was the Romper Room teacher on the Romper Room International Television Kindergarten. She retired from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2019 and was awarded the designation of Professor Emeritus.
